Please Help an Afghan Family Rebuild Their Lives

This fundraiser has been set up by the Moore Family to help our inspiring friends, A, N, and Baby A rebuild their lives in Ottawa, Canada!

 

A, N and Baby A were recently airlifted out of Afghanistan, following the fall of Kabul to the Taliban.

 

A is a an Afghan-Canadian (Canadian citizen). He is a Christian and has had a long career advocating for the rights of women and people with disabilities in Afghanistan. He has also worked as an interpreter for Western organizations. For these reasons, A and his family were required to flee Afghanistan once the Taliban took over the country.

 

All of the family's belongings, including their savings, were lost at the Kabul airport during the evacuations. The family is currently living with a family in Ottawa, but they are anxious to regain their independence, live on their own, and begin actively contributing to Canadian society.

 

A's story is one of the most inspiring we have EVER heard! He was blinded at the age of 7 by a grenade that hit his home during the Afghan civil war. With incredible strength, he fought societal perceptions of disabilities and worked tirelessly - including through ongoing discrimination - to complete his primary, and secondary education. He eventually obtained a scholarship which allowed him to study in Canada. A went on to excel in education, completing three degrees at various Canadian universities, including a Master's degree in Public Administration and Policy. It was during his studies that A became a Canadian citizen - but he felt called to return to Afghanistan to continue his tireless work in the area of human rights, equality and education. A's perseverance and motivation are truly captivating.

 

We would be grateful if you would consider providing our friends with a hand up in re-establishing their lives (literally from scratch) following a most harrowing evacuation, which required them to leave everything behind. All funds collected through GoFundMe will be used by the family to pay for housing, food and other necessities while they look for work.
