Help Allen Tipton through a very difficult time

UPDATE: Hi all. When this Gofundme was originally set up, I listed our goal as $25,000. When listing a "goal", it is not necessarily the amount of money that we believe Allen will need (truth told, there is no way to predict that) but rather a hope for how much we think we can raise. That said,  thanks to the INCREDIBLE generosity of so many, that original goal was surpassed very quickly and the adjusted goal ($30K) is close to being met. Instead of continuing to raise the goal, I'd prefer to simply thank everyone for their kindness and encourage them to continue supporting Allen by donating or sharing. With immense gratitude, Terry 

Dear friends, a Gramercy Tavern legend (as well as one of the best human beings around), Allen Tipton, needs our help. In late January, Allen visited a doctor after experiencing significant pain and swelling in his tongue. After an examination, the doctor recommended he undergo a biopsy and unfortunately the results came back indicating that Allen has a cancerous tumor on his tongue. In two weeks, Allen will undergo a surgical procedure that will remove close to half of his tongue and replace it with grafted tissue from either his forearm or thigh. After the surgery is complete, Allen will then need to begin either radiation or possibly chemotherapy treatment in hopes of a full recovery. As you might expect, this recovery time will be significant. Allen, an institution at Gramercy Tavern since 1998, has been out of work since the pandemic forced the restaurant to lay off the entire team. Allen was originally hoping to return to work in the near future, but this diagnosis has prohibited his ability to go back any time soon. Allen needs our help to cover medical costs not covered by COBRA, rent, groceries and miscellaneous living expenses. Please consider donating, we are grateful for your support!
