Kuol is raising funds to bring his sister, Alom, and his brother, Maduot, to Columbia College in Vancouver. Help Alom and Maduot receive an education and reunite them with Kuol!
Here is some more information about Kuol and his siblings:
Kuol fled the war in South Sudan at the age of thirteen and spent the rest of his childhood at Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. Kuol was orphaned during the conflict and has since served the role of parent-figure for his three sisters and three brothers.. Through his dedication to his studies he was awarded a student refugee scholarship by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2014. He graduated from UBC in May 2019 with Bachelors of Commerce specializing in Operations and Logistics & Minor in Law & Society. Since graduating, he has continued with his studies, undertaking an MBA, whilst saving for his family members’ education and well being.
There are few education resources in Kakuma refugee camp and education opportunities are severely limited. The only hope for promising children to fulfill their academic potential are schools and universities outside of the camp. Alom and Maduot have been admitted to Columbia College in Vancouver, however, significant funds though need to be raised to meet visa requirements and to pay the college fees. Through his hard work and saving, the donations of friends, collaborations with local charities (e.g. UBC Sponsor A Child Education (SCE) and D2D Destiny), Kuol had raised $25,070 of the $49,220 required funds. There was still $24,150 still needed to be raised thus the creation of this gofundme.com page back in June 2021.
Since then Kuol received support from friends, colleagues and friends of friends/colleagues and community members who donated to the cause and raised a total of $4,735. Kuol also put aside about $4,500 from his employment income for this cause thus increases the total funds for Alom's and Maduot's education to $34,305 of the $49,220 required funds.
Therefore, additional funding support Kuol still needs right now is $14,915. Please help achieve this goal with any amount you wish to donate. Many Many Many Thanks in Advance for Supporting this cause. Thank you all very much for the support.
