Akilah Karima is a mother, sister, friend, and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Akilaha has been in Delta for more than forty (40) years, and is considered a "Delta Dear". She is a wonderful spirit in need of help and support.
In the Fall of 2016 she was diagnosed with stage-3, HER2 nongenetic breast cancer; and has been in the fight for her life ever since. For the past six months, Akilah has juggled treatment (often driving herself to/from chemo) while searching for long-term housing.
We're asking for $10,000 to help with medical expenses, housing, and recovery. She also needs temporary housing near her cancer treatment center (located in Maryland), so Akilah can have quick access to her oncologist and medical team. We are preparing for immunotherapy on July 11th, surgery on July 24th, and post-surgery follow up on August 8th.
