Help Abby to Afford Her Transition

Donation protected

Hello.  My name is Abby and I am a 30-something trans woman.  Just a little about me:

***Update: I have begun the process of seeking my GRS and plan on pursuing my surgery at Mt Sinai in NYC.  I'm realizing that it will likely cost me quite a bit to spend close to a month in a hotel in NYC, so I'm putting this back up to see if I might be able to find a bit of help in making it easier for me to afford living for that month, whenever it might be in the hopefully near future.

I know there are a lot out there who are in much greater need than I am, so I do encourage you to donate to them if you can.  If you are able to throw even a little bit of something my way, it would be immensely appreciated.  Becoming my true and absolutely authentic self is something that I am realizing more and more every day.  Any help I can get would mean so much to me.  Please only donate if and what you can!  Thank you!

I first realized that I was trans in Summer 2019.  I’ve been full-time since later in 2019 after coming out to my not-so-accepting family the week before Thanksgiving and to my very accepting employer that December.  I have been seeing a gender therapist and have been on hormone replacement therapy since October 2019.  Realizing that I’m trans has been one of the best things to ever happen to me.  It feels wonderful to truly be myself.  I’ve been taking so many steps now in my transition to become a more and more realized Abby!  The next steps are hopefully breast augmentation later this year and I really want to get my GRS in Summer 2022 after I graduate.

Currently, I’m working part-time as a substitute teacher while I’m going back to school to become an Elementary School teacher.  This means my income is pretty limited.  My only real sources of income are money from substituting and whatever money is left over from my student loans.  Most of the money I do have goes toward bills, rent, and food.  I've already sunk a significant amount into laser hair removal, since it isn't covered by my insurance.

I’ve always been one to be reluctant to ask for monetary assistance from others.  However, given my current situation and how everything about my transition, including the many supportive people surrounding me, has been drastically helping my overall well-being and therefore I feel that I should no longer need to shut out those who would be more than willing to help me.  To take these steps in finally getting my GRS I know will do wonders for my transition, improving my self-esteem, and greatly helping my mental health.  So I’ve decided to reach out.  I’ve realized that I likely cannot do this on my own.

If you would like to help me out financially, it would be immensely appreciated no matter how much or how little that may be.  If you can’t give any at all, no worries!  Even if you are just able to spread the word or just give me positive words of love and encouragement, I’d really appreciate that as well.  If you’d rather give something else other than a monetary donation, such as donating clothes, gift cards for food, or rather anything else that could help offset some expenses, I would absolutely welcome any of that!  I know that there are a ton of wonderful people out there in the community who have needs much greater than mine.  If you are going to donate to me, please remember to consider donating to some of these other folks as well.  They deserve help as well!

Thank You so much for taking the time to read this.  I’m extremely thankful for any gracious help you may be able to offer!

Love,

Abby
