Help a Veteran - Ed Alcoff

     Our friend, Ed Alcoff, bridge player, teacher, director and mentor to many, finds himself in dire straights and in need of help.  For the past nine months, Ed has been underemployed due to Covid and has exhausted his savings and now finds himself unemployed and in significant debt just trying to make ends meet.  
     As we all have been hoping things would turn around, he has been trying to hold on until he could return to directing and teaching to pay off his debt and get back on his feet. We are all facing challenges due to Covid, but this has been a particularly difficult year for Ed.  His best friend of 50 years passed away and he had to put his beloved dog down.  Ed has no living family at all so these were even more significant losses.
    The bottom line is, Ed can't afford the rent and other bills. He has no money for a rental deposit or moving costs. He has reached out to the VA looking housing assistance but nothing has come through. Ed is very close to becoming a homeless veteran.
    Ed served full-time on active duty in the Navy for 12 years and was highly decorated.  While in the service, he completed his BS in Business and his MBA, both while working full-time.
