Help a Tuk-Tuk Driver Start a Farm

Donation protected
This is Dan.

Some of you will know this lovely man and his always spotless, green tuk-tuk that zips travellers around Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor in Cambodia.

He has looked after our family and many others on their Cambodian adventures over the years.

Dan's income is 100% dependent on tourists.

And right now, there are none.

There's also nothing by way of income support from the Cambodian government, nor are local banks lending to people who are reliant on tourism for their income.

Dan has a young family to support, a small bank loan to service, and is anxious about the future. Right now, his tuk-tuk is going nowhere.

What he has done, however, is secure access to a small plot of land near Kampong Cham (between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap where his father-in-law lives) on which to grow cashews and raise some chooks.

"This place is very famous for cashew nuts tree and we can sell around Cambodia not only here!" says Dan.

"I really want to work with a farm but we need to start a little bit big money. I want to grow a cashew nut tree and chicken because tourist we don't know how long time coming back," he explained on Facebook Messenger.

Dan is looking to raise US$2000 which he hopes to turn into US$5000 in around six months.

"We can start more than 10000 tree. One baby tree is $0.25, and sell-out is $0.55, and maybe 100 chicken," he says.

Dan is at the property right now, and is ready to get planting.

"Because if start now our baby trees is best time and very easy for sale because our trees is good," says Dan.

This is true seed-capital for a seriously grass-root enterprise.

Your support would go a long way to helping our friend re-boot his life while we all wait for borders to re-open and people to start travelling again.

And if you're ever in Cambodia, you'll be in the very best hands if you entrust your transport to Dan.

He might even take you to see his tiny farm.
