Help a Donut Shop in Wheeling

Hello, 

My name is Leo and I am the grandson of one of two owners of Wheeling Donuts located in Wheeling, Illinois. I am writing on the behalf of my grandpa that many of you know. My grandpa started out as an employee nearly a decade ago but took over in the autumn of 2017 year once the owner felt it was time to retire. My grandpa continued to serve this amazing community and made some amazing friends along the way. Unfortunately we have sad news, as many of you know Covid-19 left many family businesses to struggle and made it hard for some to get by and forcing them to close down for good. Not only were businesses impacted but families as well. Wheeling Donuts may no longer be here by summer of 2021. Loosing over 60% of our revenue left the owners with high bills to pay with little income to work with. There was some pay weeks in which my grandpa did not know if he would get paid or not. He put other employees before him, would pay them first and then the bills. If the income was not enough to cover the bills he would have to dig in his pocket to cover the cost. Business is still slow but better than it was a year ago but the high bills of renting and expenses still leave the owners struggling to get by. A solution we are looking at is relocating to another area in wheeling that will help lower the expenses and keep us afloat meanwhile we work on new improvements and ideas to keep moving forward. Relocation or shutting down for good are the only options we see for the future of our donut shop. The funds will be used to cover fees of relocation. We are truly grateful for your consideration in donating and we understand everyone is trying to get by during these hard times. We appreciate everyone that has shopped with us and helped us stay in business for the past couples years. If not enough money can be raised with Gofundme and our own money pooled together we will issue refunds with GofundMe. The money is strictly going to be used for moving equipment and getting the process started, if we do not feel comfortable and think we won't be able to successfully relocate the funds will not be withdrawal.
