Help a Jamaican Student Get to Howard University

Karci Gibson is currently a freshman attending Howard University majoring in Electrical Engineering. As the only child of a single mother, she is in urgent need of financial assistance in the sum of USD 30,0000, so she can attend in-person classes in Washington D.C. Within her single-parent household, Karci's mother is a government worker, who works tirelessly to provide, on a very limited salary. Without this financial assistance, Karci will not be able to continue university when face to face classes resume.

A past student from Immaculate Conception High school,  which she attended from 2013-2020,  Karci took the CSEC exams and came out with nine (9) ones in the subjects of Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Information Technology, French, Food and Nutrition, English A, and English B. In 2019, she took the CAPE Unit 1 exam, while attending Immaculate Conception’s sixth form program and came out with three (3) ones in Physics, Biology, and Communication Studies and a 2 in Chemistry. During her years at Immaculate, she maintained a steady average resulting in her being an honor student and being a part of the honor society for the years 2013-2016 and 2018 where she also graduated with honors while being a student-athlete.

Karci is also a highly accomplished swimmer, being an active participant on her school's swim team, water polo team, as well as giving back to the community with the Interact club. In Interact club she would volunteer to feed orphans, read to children at the U.W.I. hospital, and donate valuables and food to those in need. During her years as a member of the water polo team, she represented her school in the High School Water polo league where Immaculate came on top for each year. From the young age of 6 years old, she has been swimming competitively and hasn't stopped to this day. She has not only represented her school but also her country and club in both regional and international events such as the CARIFTA(swimming) Games (2014, 2015, 2019), the UANA  Games (2018), and the ASATT Invitational Competition (2016,2017, 2019). Karci has also been on Jamaica’s national swimming squad for a number of years to present. She was an ambassador of the Jamaica-China Swim Training Exchange program, where she was selected to live and train during the summer in China between the years of (2018 and 2019). During her years as a student-athlete, she learned the importance of discipline, determination, multitasking, prioritizing, and balance with general life.
