Provide a Meal for Hungry School Children in Fiji

Hello everyone! My name is Joshua Fox and I created this GoFundMe account to help students in Fiji. As a first-generation immigrant from Fiji I was blessed with the opportunities and education that came with being in the United States, but I never forgot the values that growing up in Fiji instilled in me. Anyone that has visited Fiji will tell you that besides the beautiful beaches and mesmerizing oceans, the one thing that stands out is the Fijian people. The Fijian people are a spiritual, loving, and resilient group that will do anything they can for their neighbors no matter where they are. There were countless times that my family and I received help from the Fijian community in San Francisco when we were still trying to make our home here. This pandemic has affected every one of us personally in one way or another, and my beautiful Fiji is no exception. Fiji is heavily dependent on tourism and with the current global situation many of these families are out of work. Most of the resorts and the major airline (Fiji Airways) has laid off almost all of it’s workforce. Without jobs families are struggling to afford simple necessities and the young students are especially suffering from it.
 
It is incredibly difficult to concentrate in school when you don’t have food and these students are going without lunch every day. Families are no longer able to afford school provided lunches leaving students focusing on their empty bellies instead of their academics. I truly believe the younger generation will lead Fiji to a brighter future but THEY NEED OUR HELP.
 
I know that these are incredibly difficult times but a small donation of $1.25 will feed a student for one day and $6.25 will feed a student for an entire week. Please do not feel confined by these numbers they are simply a reference point. I encourage you to donate what you can. If you do not have the means to make a monetary donation, all I ask is that you share this page.

COSTS: *The conversion rate for $1 US Dollar is equal to about $2.14 Fijian Dollars*
 
Lunch for one day (1 student): USD $1.25 ~ FJD $2.50
This breaks down to (1 student):
1 week = USD $6.25 ~ FJD $12.50
1 month = USD $25 ~ FJD $50
1 semester (10 weeks) = USD $62.50 ~ FJD $125  
 
Bus fare for one day (1 student): USD $1 ~ FJD $2
This breaks down to (1 student):
1 week = USD $5 ~ FJD $10
1 month = USD $20 ~ FJD $40  
1 semester (10 weeks) = USD $50 ~ FJD $100
 
To fully fund (lunch & bus fare) a student for the whole semester the total is USD $112.50.
 
The goal is to support 100 students for the semester which comes to USD $11,250.
