Help a family who lost everything in Lahaina fire

My name is Nicole and I'm fundraising for my family who live in Lahaina, Maui that was recently destroyed by a devastating fire.

The fire spread so quickly they fled in house slippers, grabbing what they could. A few belongings, the two dogs, and only one of a few cats.

They lost the house. My aunt Ann Carroll- her daughter, my cousin Ashlan & her husband Steve, along with their two daughters. They lost everything.

My aunt texted us:

Hurricane winds were ferocious. Moving so fast. We just escaped with a couple bags & the slippers on our feet. 2 dogs & sadly only 1 kitty. Couldn’t catch the others & we’re pretty sure they perished. It will be at least a week before we’ll b able to go back in to Lahaina. They’ve closed the road. A friend is stuck on this side & can’t contact his wife & little kids. No cell service. At least we’re all together.

I’m staying with Susie right now. Jocy has the animals & Ashlan guys went to ****** on this side.

The shock has not sunk in for me. Hard to believe that 77 years of accumulated crap is now ashes. Everything I own is now in 2 small bags.

But the only really important thing is we are all fine.

Everything is gone. The whole town is gone. It's worse than the news is reporting. So many people died. I'm scared to go see it when they finally let us back in.
