We are raising funds so our loved Rhiannon can get the therapy they deserve - namely pluralistic psychotherapy from a trauma specialist at The Life Academy in Edinburgh. This would cost £65 a session (with the possibility of concessions to fees) and with limited external financial support available to them we are turning to you to help reach this goal.
Rhiannon was diagnosed with CPTSD in 2014, but has been unable to afford the therapy so needed for those struggling with this disorder. CPTSD, short for complex post traumatic stress disorder, comes in response to chronic traumatization over a longer period of time than the more acute traumatic events that can trigger PTSD.
Living with CPTSD can mean experiencing PTSD symptoms such as flashbacks, paranoia, bursts of emotion, along with the major CPTSD symptom of a change in self-concept - affecting how they see themselves, their values, and the world they live in. Those living with CPTSD may also experience depression and anxiety, as well as difficulties in sleeping, managing emotions, and feeling safe in the world. Survivors with CPTSD often require therapy for many years and we need your help to get Rhiannon started. The NHS has been unable to help them as their services do not stretch to therapy. Despite their expressing interest in NHS counseling services for the past 6 years, they are yet to receive treatment.
Rhiannon is a beacon of light for so many - bringing comfort, patience and empathy to every interaction they have with loved ones. With their art, spiritual practice, and contagious laughter, they bring love into the world and make others feel seen. It is time for us to give back to this beautiful person who deserves an opportunity to heal.
