Help a Black Femme thrive

This fundraiser is for a friend who prefers to remain anonymous, so we will be referring to our friend with “our friend” and “she” throughout the fundraiser description. Thank you for understanding and respecting that this fundraiser is anonymous. 

Our beloved friend, activist, radical babe is seeking community support to get out of the cycle of debt and toxic capitalism to have the freedom to do her real work in the world. Our friend  was suspended from work because of systemic racism, she is not able to quit because of the unreasonably high costs of city life and debt. We are raising funds for her to pay off a chunk of her debt and have resources to be able to step away from an environment that is harmful to her so she can thrive. Our friend's goal is to find a land project to live at,  to spend more time deepening her connection to nature with the goal of building community and helping increase QTPOC (Queer, Trans, People of Color) access to land and land-based skills.

Who is our friend and what is she about?

Our friend is a black queer femme living in the city. She is a brilliant activist, artist, creator, community member, and educator. She works to spread social justice and radical systems of thought formally through her social work day job, and informally through various community projects. She also teaches nature reconnection and land-based skills to people of color and LGBTQ+ folks. She is passionate about decolonizing fiber arts, and informing the craft world about systemic racism, making change at a personal level, which creates a ripple effect across craft culture. She also works with a small collective to publish an annual magazine working towards resisting capitalism through connection with nature.

Why does she want to remain anonymous?

The active danger of white supremacists is the main reason that she wishes to remain anonymous. Heartbreakingly it is not safe to be a person of color visibly working to dismantle racism. We ask that you think on this, understand that supporting her is a radical act, and trust she is moving towards a future that will nourish and support her so she can continue her real work in the world. Help her to continue moving towards breaking free from a system that intentionally works against her. 

All of the money we raise here will be going directly into our friends bank account to help her transition out of this unhealthy work and living environment.
