Black Non-Binary Mental Health Aide Seeking Help

Hey everyone! My name is Dagmawe Berhanu. I’m a 24 year old Black non-binary artist in the Philadelphia area and am trying to raise funds due to a loss of job wages.


I work as a Recovery Specialist at a residential facility for trans and other GNC folk. As someone in recovery themselves, it was important for me to find a way to be of service to my community. In the past months I’ve lost a few clients. One of them hit me particularly hard due to the nature of her death. This has taken a tremendous toll on my mental health, which was fragile enough given the nature of my job, and not really having a space to call my own when I clock out. Because of all this, I recently had to step down from my full time position so my wages have been cut drastically. I’m currently floating on my savings while I look for another gig but it’s tough.
