Rebuild Judy Gonzales' home

Donation protected

Judy has lived in her Houston home for 20 years.  She made a simple house into a home that was a showcase for her creativity. It hummed with vibrant color and was decorated with her collection of baskets and fabric arts. Rain from Hurricane Harvey and  the water released from the nearby dam by the Army Corps of Engineers flooded that home with four feet of water.

Everything is gone. The art, the books, the appliances, the beds and baseboards, cabinets, carpeting and other flooring, and even the sheet rock on the walls, all destroyed by mold and standing in storm water for over a week.

Thanks to the unbelievably wonderful and generous volunteers from local churches and even from people who came from out of state to help with this disaster,  the debris from her home was removed.

She has no flood insurance and her home insurance has denied the claim because of flooding. She has two cats and no family in the area. Friends are housing her and have been beyond generous. She had applied for a grant from FEMA but doesn't know when her grant will come through. In the meantime, the expenses mount and her resources diminish.

I'm Candis Litsey, I live in Seattle. Since 1971, Judy and I have been friends.  The money donated so far to this campaign will go towards the following: cleaning the house of mold and any remaining signs of water damage, drying out the interior, treating the house for mold and replacing the sheetrock. These steps are critical to bringing Judy's home back to livable condition.

All funds will be directed to Judy's bank account.
