Help 2 Car Crash Survivors Get Back on Their Feet
Donation protected
My name is Rocío Posada, of Newark, Delaware. I am raising funds for my two best friends, Jaicel Ortega and Lilia Jiménez, who survived a fatal car crash on April 13th while traveling in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas in southern Mexico.
Jaicel (Scripps College '18) and Lilia (Occidental College ’18) received a U.S. grant to teach English and improve intercultural understanding in Mexico. Their grant was supposed to last from September 2018 until May 2019.
10 days ago, these two 22-year-old women endured internal organ damage, bone fractures and painful wounds from the impact. Lilia is thankfully back home in Los Angeles, California, but Jaicel is still hospitalized in Mexico.
They have faced this hardship with great resilience and strength. However, we are reaching out for community support. Coming from low-income families, they do not have the financial resources to access physical and mental therapies as well as travel expenses to return home, after surviving this traumatic car crash.
In 1 month, we can raise $6,000 that will go towards their medical bills for continued treatments in Los Angeles, California, where they both reside, as well as travel expenses. All of the proceeds will go to Lilia’s account, and she will then immediately disburse half of the funds to Jaicel.
By donating, you can be part of the community that helps Jaicel and Lilia fully recover. If you’re unable to donate, you can help spread the word by sharing this GoFundMe link with anyone you know. We are deeply grateful for any donation received. Thank you for taking the time to read their story.
