Helen Tilis Medical Expenses

Last year on December 2, 2016, Helen underwent a grueling double mastectomy at Mt. Sinai.  The initial outcome was very positive and Helen's prognosis was quite good.  Unfortunately, Helen has had many issues with repeated infections and has required three additional surgeries.  One of these surgeries even necessitated removing part of her rib to treat the infection which had gone into her cartilage.  She will require still more intervention and many months before she can begin the reconstruction surgery.  These surgeries have taken their toll physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially.  Helen's medical insurance has an annual deductible of $8000.  By the end of this year, she will have paid $16,000 in unforeseen medical bills.  In addition, she has used all available vacation time from work so all days off for medical treatment  mean that she does not receive income.  Helen is the most genuine, compassionate and kind woman that all of us are so very proud to call our friend.
