No Drilling in Brentwood

Please join the community members of Brentwood opposed to oil drilling on land behind Brentwood Hills! We’re raising money to defeat a proposal that would allow exploratory drilling near our homes. The money raised will be used to produce materials to educate the public and secure professional services where needed.
At the height of a pandemic, Brentwood citizens learned that Indiana-based PowerDrive Oil and Gas Company, LLC submitted an application to the county asking for three exploratory oil and gas wells in unincorporated Brentwood. A permanent well, along with a gas pipeline extending under the city of Antioch, would be installed if “commercial quantities” are found.
The proposed drilling site is only 700–1100 feet from existing homes and within half a mile of an elementary school. A tremendous amount of scientific data exists about the terrible health impacts caused by living near oil and gas development. These impacts include higher cancer risk, depression, pneumonia, increased asthma attacks, skin-related hospitalizations, and depression. For pregnant women, living closer to drilling sites is associated with high-risk pregnancies, premature births, birth defects, and low birth-weight babies.
Current research shows that a 2,500-foot setback from drilling sites is on the lower end of the range of distances which could reduce the harmful health and quality of life impacts from toxic emissions and exposures.
