Heidi's Brain Surgery Recovery

Heidi was diagnosed 2 years ago with a brain tumor which has recently grown in size so much that she has to have surgery, as it is now pressing on optical nerves, which could make her go blind. Despite taking medications over the last 2 years to reduce the tumor and stop it from growing, the medications have failed and this is her only option. On September 25, 2018, Heidi will undergo a surgical procedure called transphenoidal brain tumor resection of prolactinoma. This GoFundMe is being set up to cover the cost of pre-op, surgery, and post-op appointments as well as to cover 2 months of lost wages.  Ben will also need to be off work for 2 weeks to take care of Heidi and will not be paid for that time. Heidi does not have short or long-term disability insurance to cover her time away from work and neither of them have vacation or sick leave left. We have also set up a meal train to help take care of the family while she is recovering, and are setting up a schedule to have someone stay with Heidi during her recovery as she cannot be by herself for the first three weeks after surgery, and also to help take care of scheduling needs for Gordon as he will be in school. Funds are needed as soon as you can donate, as the family will be using the funds immediately to cover the cost of co-payments for the pre-op appointments, exams, MRI's, gas to and from the surgeon or doctor's offices, etc.  which are required prior to the surgery, as well as the time Heidi and Ben have to take off for these appointments. All appointments are in Clackamas, which is over an hour away from their home. After the surgery, funds will be used to pay for the cost of whatever the insurance doesn't cover for the procedure, lost wages in time off that is not covered since they don't have vacation or short-term disability, and help with prescriptions as well as paying an unexpected costs that come up from this event.
