Hehuni's spine tumor operation
Donation protected
My brother in law Hehuni Geri Tau (brother of my wife) from Papua New Guinea is in urgent need of an operation to remove a tumor from his spine. For several months he has been unable to use his legs and been confined to a wheel chair. Hehuni is the sole bread-winner for a wife and 12 year old son but has been unable to work for 6 months due to his condition. Income protection insurance doesn't exist in PNG.
A MRI scan in Adelaide this week found the tumor. The tumor has only just been diagnosed because a suitable MRI doesn't exist in PNG and it was a difficult process to get Hehuni a visa for Australia. If he doesn't get an operation soon he will be a permanent paraplegic and will lose control of his bladder and bowels. The operation can't be done in PNG. Because Hehuni is not an Australian resident/citizen Medicare & health insurance will NOT cover any of the operation. The operation will cost thousands of $.
The operation will be at the Royal Adelaide Hospital or Flinders Hospital in Adelaide South Australia.
If you can contribute towards the cost of this operation that would be appreciated.
