Hector Foundation Summer Program (HFSP)

My name is Wilhem Hector, I am a junior-year student at UWC Red Cross Nordic in Norway. I was brought up in Haiti and witnessed the hardships that the Haitian students experience when it comes to finding decent colleges for their undergraduate careers. The major reasons behind that are a lack of education-oriented programs capable of guiding the Haitian Youth through this stressful process. Also, most families are unable to afford pre-college programs abroad due to a lack of financial resources.


Together with five motivated students from Haiti, Norway, and Canada, I crafted a two-week residential summer program that aims to increase high school students’ chances of getting admitted to college by deepening their knowledge in important disciplines almost unexplored in the Haitian syllabus. 


With the help of the UWC Haiti National Committee, we have sought and been offered a safe campus for the duration of the program. Moreover, we have reached an agreement with a Haitian alumni network. Twenty of whom will deliver workshops, conferences, and host-lectures, compacting a unique and enriching curriculum. On top of that, participants will partake in interactive activities that foster their leadership and open-mindedness.


In order to make the program affordable to any motivated teenager willing to grow intellectually and to take action in his/her/their community, we will provide full scholarships to the admitted candidates. One scholarship package amounts to 1615.25 NOK/ 173USD. We look forward to enrolling a maximum of 30 students.


HFSP is an all in one package event that empowers Haiti’s youth through education and leadership. Support us to bring hope to those who want but are unable to make an impact within the Haitian society. Every cent provided by you to our net goal of 50,000 NOK/ 4500 USD will provide the chance for a globalized education that young Haitians have never been exposed to before.
