Heather's Hope Fund

Heather is a young woman who I met when she was about 24 months old after she had a brain tumor removed. When she was 12 months old, she started having seizures due to a tumor. The doctors were not able to remove the whole tumor when she was a baby because it was so close to her optic nerve.
Heather has continued to have seizures through her whole life, with only a two-year period which has been seizure free. She has gone through all sorts of therapies as she has grown up and learned to deal with issues related to the surgery and the tumor. This has ultimately lead her to be a strong advocate for other people with epilepsy and mental health issues.
Heather recently discovered that she could get more comprehensive treatment for her multiple diagnoses outside of CT, where she is from. She researched programs and bravely went out to California to continue dealing with her emotional/mental health issues.
While in California, Heather experienced a signifcant increase in the frequency of her seizures. Neurological tests revealed that there were changes in her brain related to a growth of the remaining piece of tumor. Heather is now scheduled to have a biopsy at the beginning of April to determine the proper course of treatment. At the end of April/beginning of May, Heather will have another surgery to remove the remaining part of the tumor. Heather's doctor's expect Heather's seizures to stop once it's removed.
Heather cannot undergo this surgery alone. Heather's Mom, Paula, does not have the resources to travel and stay out in California for the week or two while Heather is undergoing the procedure and recovering. She needs help with medical bills, plane tickets, food expenses, lodging, and car rental.
