As many of you know, Heather Handsford has been battling for her life. She has TNBC (Triple negative breast cancer) that she beat about 4 1/2 yrs ago and had it come back. She did Chemo and radiation only to have it return even more. She was lucky enough to be a part of an amazing clinical trial at MD Anderson where she showed tremendous progress and hope. That is when the devastating blow came. Heather was diagnosed with Leptom-eningeal disease. It is a rare (5%) complication of Breast Cancer where the cancer cells invade the cerebral spinal fluid and circulate around and into her brain and spinal cord. She was diagnosed with this on 10/30 and was supposed to start chemo the next week. Insurance denied coverage and Heather went 3 weeks with no chemo. The sympt-oms have come with a vengeance and have really taken a toll on her body. We were able to raise money before but unfortunately now we are facing a bigger problem. Heather's deductible starts over January 1st which means they have to pay $6000 out of pocket for her deductible before the insurance will cover. We want to help them out and hopefully help out with house cleaning and any other things that might come along in the weeks to come. Heather has to use a wheelchair and walker now as her legs are just too weak to support her and it makes the small mundane tasks such as caring for herself difficult. Thank you for your time to listen, share, and help us make this horrible fight just a little bit better for her and Paul. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and generosity.
