Heather and Katie Dog Desperately Need Help

Donation protected
I am embarrassed to ask for help, but Katie and I are desperate. She has either a UTI or a bladder infection and is urinating blood and has been for almost two weeks. She urinates on herself in her sleep and in the house. I am petrified to lose her and I cannot afford to take her to the vet. I cannot afford to pay my rent for November which is $1225 and I don't know what to do. I've requested emergency assistance but been denied because of our previous 3 months' income.  In addition, I am behind on my car payments (2 months), electric bill (2 months), cable bill (2 months), water bill (3 months), car and renter's insurance (1 month, but will be two months and cancelled on November 21), and all of my credit cards and my personal loan are two months behind.  I have disconnect notices for everything and I have never, ever experienced this level of fear and uncertainty before. We need help so desperately.

How did it get this bad?

It began in May when I was arrested for writing a bad check ten years ago (you read that right) to a dentist for a root canal. I paid that bad check off in 2010, but the state of VA wouldn't drop the charges. Because of that, the VA Insurance Commission wouldn't grant me an insurance license and I lost my job at Geico.

Throughout the summer, while trying to hire an attorney and defend myself against felony larceny charges that would ruin my entire future and prevent me from being a therapist, I was also applying for multitudes of jobs. In this area, there is almost nothing but government and I don't have a security clearance, so 99% of the positions are not open to me. I continually received declination emails from state universities, for-profit colleges, government contractors and more. By September, I had run out of savings and the personal loan I took out when I moved back to VA to help care for my father after my mom's death.

I applied for grocery stores and fast food and cashier positions at gas stations. All denied because they "feared hiring and training me only to lose me when a better job is offered." I can't seem to get a job even if I offered to pay myself and it's very disheartening.

I had been driving Lyft throughout this time, but my town is small and there are more drivers than passengers. Once or twice a week, finances dependent, I will drive the 55 miles up to DC to drive Lyft. Up to this point, Chris was working and paying the rent and several household bills while I paid my personal bills..car payment, credit cards, personal loan, car insurance, groceries, etc. Unfortunately, we have lost Chris's income as well and I'm not sure when he will recover and go back to work.

In early October I applied for, and was offered the position of delivery driver with UPS. The last week of October I went to training and I expected to begin work as soon as I got home. Unfortunately, I will not be starting until either the week of November 11 or November 18. They hired more drivers than they can train so they've staggered training.  This is devastating news.

I don't know what to do other than swallow my pride and my embarrassment and ask for help. This lease is up in January and I'm desperate to make it so that my rental history remains positive even if all the work I've done to improve my credit has been shot because of these circumstances.
