Have any of you ever looked up how the heart got its shape? The meaning of its shape? People believe this beautiful symbol the heart to be the center of all human emotions, associate it with intimacy, love, and even compare it to different shapes of the human body. It’s no wonder why the heart is such a popular symbol and such an influential shape. The heart = love!
"Hearts for Lu", (Luann Ward). Many of you know Lu as a daughter, sister, aunt, your stylist, your co-worker, as a loving friend and much more. For 10 years Lu has been working with doctors trying to keep her condition with congestive heart failure under control so that she could continue to live a full life, yet knowing some day she may face having to be put on a list for a heart transplant. That day came on September 13, 2017. Luann was admitted into Abbott Northwestern hospital indefinitely until a match for her was found. In one very long anxious week our prayers were answered as they had a heart for Lu! On September 25, 2017 Luann was to have her heart transplant surgery.
The morning of September 25th at 3am the rain came down hard in Minneapolis for 5 minutes. It stopped as sudden as it had started. It’s been said that rain will wash away the old for a new beginning! At 6am that morning Luann went into surgery to then be back in ICU by 11:30a. WOW!! Hearts for Lu!
Luann has been in the hospital recovering with ups, downs and her share of challenges. She has had round the clock support from family and friends, yet it has been incredibly tough every single day. After four surgeries in just four weeks Luann will be going home to rehab and heal for many months to come. This includes monthly heart biopsies, serious meds, pacemaker and much more. For six months she will have to wear a mask if she leaves her home for any reason, visitors will do the same, no flowers accepted due to infections etc. This is a crucial time for Lu to heal. One day at a time is the name of the game here.
Many of you have asked how can I help? With much thought and consideration, we feel like this is the most efficient and effective way that all of you can help our loved one Lu as she faces all her expenses in the upcoming months and or even years. Your continued prayers, love and support mean "Hearts for Lu"!
