My mom is a super woman.
During the past few years of rollercoaster health events her sense of humor, love of her family and friends have shined during this dark time .
Debbie still has that crazy "Lane " humor. I have never seen her shed a tear or shows a sense of fear. She is upbeat and chatty like always. Her spirit is high and positive . She talks about being a grandma one day and is reminding me daily of how much she loves me.
After a 2 years of stuggling with a broken ankle and infection plus years of diabetes complications. My mom made the decision that a amputation in order to live a longer life was needed . May 2018 my mom had her right leg amputated, 24hours after surgery she suffered her 8th heart attack which caused massive damage and a rip in a heart valve which now causes leakage in the lungs and congestive heart failure. Since May she has delt with 4 rounds of cdiff , Open wound infections on her stub. Blood infections (spetic), 3 blood tranfusions, 4 more heart attacks( which is now 12 hearts attacks in total ) ,strokes and endless complications from diabetes and heart disease with loss of vision and hearing.
With numerous testing done and endless meetings with heart surgeons, it was determined that my mom isn't a candidate for open heart surgery. Her life has now been extremely shortened. With numerous hospital & doctors visit. Along with medications that are not covered , medical supplies, legal fees, home nursing, transportation, cost have added up faster than we can keep up with. We have come into a tough situation. She will be required to have daily hospital visits now has her heart muscles are rapidly slowing down. We have also decided as a family to have hospice/ palliative care at home.
I would like my mom to not have a sense of worry so she focus of her health and the journey ahead.
