Heart of a Sea Lion-McCauley Family Fund
Donation protected
Today we ask for your thoughts, prayers and support as we reach out to help part of our YMCA family: The McCauleys...
Connor (age 17) and Drew (age 15) McCauley, two of our YMCA members and beloved swimmers on our Sea Lions swim team, were in a near fatal car accident after their car was struck head-on by a vehicle driving the wrong way on Interstate 81 North.
Connor took the brunt of the wreck...taking the steering wheel straight to the chest. He underwent open heart surgery and also has a broken collarbone and femur that still need treatment. Doctors at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital say that his strong heart, from years of swimming, may have been the key to helping him survive. It was Connor's split-second decision to turn the car just enough so that his sister Drew was able to miraculously walk away with less critical injuries.
We ask for your help in easing the financial and emotional hardship that the McCauleys are going through. Your donation will go directly to the family to help pay for their most pressing medical needs. Please give what you can.
We thank you for your help,
The staff from the YMCA of Roanoke Valley
