Heart Surgery for Congolese Child

Dear Everyone,
I am an American who grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo and have kept in touch with some of the people there. One of our friends, Pastor Bofio, has a son, Hiram, who was born 10 years ago with a heart valve defect. Thanks to the help of some generous friends and to the wonderful organization "Save a Child's Heart" (SACH), we were able to get surgery for Hiram about 9 years ago that saved his life.
However, as anyone who has had a child born with heart valve problems knows, the heart grows and once it is full grown, the artificial valves no longer fit and a second surgery is needed. The SACH doctors examined Hiram in Tanzania earlier this year and have agreed to the surgery and will again donate their time and skills, but we will still need a total of about $15,000 to make this surgery a reality. The cost of admission to the SACH program is about $10,000 (this includes covering the cost of using the operating room in Israel), plus we need about $4,000 will cover travel related expenses (roundtrip airfare for the child and his mother to get from Kinshasa to Tel Aviv) and another $1,000 is needed for miscellaneous expenses such as vaccinations, visa applications, medecines post surgery, the stay in Israel, etc.
Hiram needs the surgery within the next few months, so this is an urgent request. My husband and I have given thousands of dollars for Hiram over the years, but our financial situation has changed so we need help for this request.
If we raise more than the $15,000 needed for this surgery, we will donate any additional funds to "Mercy Ships" which provides much-needed medical help to people all over Africa.
