Pastor Eddie Woods is the Lead Pastor of City Point Church in Allen, TX.
On Friday night, May 8th, Pastor Eddie was taken to the ER due to increasing heart and breathing issues that began earlier in the week and continued to worsen. He was admitted and tested for COVID first – which came back negative. He was moved into ICU and by Saturday morning, his condition worsened. He has been transferred to another hospital in Dallas and currently has a team of heart specialists working with him. Right now, doctors are saying that he is in heart failure and will need a heart transplant.
Pastor Eddie and his family are on a non-traditional shared insurance plan. Due to the nature of how shared insurance plans work, negotiations are still underway between insurance and the hospital but have not yet come to an agreement. (An agreement could still be reached and other insurance options may be secured that could pay for the procedure).
Regardless, the ongoing medical costs for heart transplants result in what a medical professional said would cost tens of thousands of dollars per year in prescription drug costs alone post transplant for the rest of his life. The cash price cost of the heart transplant is $465,862. This cost would cover his transplant and medical care during his hospital stay. We decided to start this GoFundMe page as an opportunity for others who would also like to give towards his medical costs and care.

Update from Eddie's wife, Julie-
We were able to reach an agreement between the hospital and our medical share program which is AWESOME!!
So in light of that decision, we have decided to lower our goal amount.
After speaking with hospital administration - Eddie will be listed as a "Cash Pay" patient for Post-Transplant care which will cost thousands of dollars and will require frequent heart biopsies, scans, blood work, etc. The monies raised through this campaign will be put into an account to be used for Post-Op expenses, deductibles, clinic appointments, care, medications, etc. Thank you for your gift!
