We're Consonance, a collective of composers comprising of Zach Gulaboff Davis, Dan Despins, Bobby Ge, Gu Wei, and Soyoona Kim! This fall/winter, we're working with the Bergamot Quartet and the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) to compose and produce Hearing Stars, a set of five original music videos detailing the life cycle of stars. It's an ambitious project, and to realize it to the highest possible caliber, we need YOUR help!
To maintain scientific accuracy, STScI has connected each of us with respective scientists who have curated photos, videos, and visualizations from the Hubble/affiliated labs for our use. We're working with recording artist Andrew Bohman and filmmaker Caroline Xia on studio sessions and video shoots this November, ultimately to produce MVs that weave together STScI’s imagery with cinematography of Bergamot performing our pieces. The videos will be distributed online on our Youtube channel mid-January 2021, and will be featured on STScI’s lecture series in May. There will also be an audio album release in February on Spotify and other free streaming platforms.
Funds raised will be used to a) compensate our cinematographers, b) obtain professional mixing/mastering, and c) pay for music distribution fees. It's been a long journey getting all the pieces in place, especially amidst everything this year, and your support would mean the world (and galaxy) to us!
