Healthcare for Sharie

As many of you know, our friends Sharie and John (Junker) have been battling serious health issues over the last year. Last September, Sharie was hospitalized for two weeks and it was discovered that she has a rare autoimmune disease that attacks her blood vessels called Systemic Vasculitis. This disease has no cure and can attack any organ/tissue at any time. Since last fall, it has attacked her lungs (she now has asthma) her esophagus, stomach and a few weeks ago her brain stem.   The doctors are trying to get the Vasculitus into remission and find out specifically what type she has.  Long term survival rates go up exponentially once the type is identified!

In addition to Sharie’s health issues, John had back surgery.  He was released to return to work in January 2018 but experienced a heart attack which needed a surgical stent placed in a main artery. He did return to work in February but was physically very limited because he is in need of another surgery on his upper spine and neck. He was let go from his employer in May.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, they are now without employer funded private health insurance and trying to make the monthly cobra payments. Without the Cobra payments Sharie will not be able to get the access to the specialists and medical help she desperately needs. They need to make a payment on July 31st for the first two months of coverage ($3500.00) and monthly payments of $1750.00 for the next four months.
