Hi! Thanks for reading! 12 years ago, my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Her oncologist in Duluth recommended a lumpectomy, which she did. It was a "slow growth" cancer. But the margins on the removed lump weren't ideal. My Mom opted to do all she could to make herself as healthy as possible and heal naturally...

Her cancer was just diagnosed by Mayo clinic as stage 4. In August. Two months ago.

But she’s still here! So something is working. Her oncologist in Duluth, who is very experienced, said, “you proved me wrong.” He didn’t tell her as much, but he didn’t think she’d live this long!

But stage 4. That’s scary for all of us.

There is no stage 5. Stage 4 is the end.

Watch this video and please share far and wide, especially with people who know my family.

40% of women in the United States with stage 4 cancer die within 2 years. This cancer clinic in Mexico (Cancun) has a wonderful reputation, and they have an over 80% rate of women with metastatic stage 4 breast cancer living beyond 2 years... but not just living, these women thrive! Because what is being done at this center is all stuff that promotes health and healing...

We all wish we could help more, but the pandemic has been hard on everybody. My Mom is reticent to ask for help. She's moving around some retirement funds, selling assets, saving and considering putting this on credit cards. Then I remembered crowd-funding.

I said, “Mom, why don't we do a GoFundMe and see if our community will contribute.

My father, "Coach" Rollie Strand, taught over 10,000 students in his career. My Mom taught a few thousand. Fewer, because she took time off teaching when we were little (I'm one of four children) to stay home with us. She made homemade food from scratch for the whole family and gave us a lot of room to play. BUT, once we were all school-age, she went back to work as a teacher and taught a total of about 30 years…

They both worked over 30 years in the public school system in Duluth, MN. My Mom taught adult education at The Alternative Learning Center (nicknamed Asshole's Last Chance by locals), and taught one day a week at the county jail. She LOVED it! She didn't think of her students as bad kids or bad students... She thought of it as "they have different learning styles that don't fit in to the regular classroom model, and as a teacher, I'm so lucky I get to work with them one-on-one or in small groups so I can learn how they learn and teach them! One of her students writes her every few months, expressing tons of gratitude for how my Mom "changed her life" and "saved her" as she came from abuse, was never taught how to read or write and was a child runaway. Somehow she landed at ALC and my Mom was her English and GED prep teacher. They bonded. This young woman learned she WAS smart, and my Mom was her teacher and guide. She's now happy, well-adjusted and living a full life with a romantic partner, and has a career in medical imaging. (She’s the one who wrote the card in the video.)

To give you some perspective on why we're raising so much. My Mom will have 21 days of full treatment, utilizing all the cutting edge health and healing technologies to help her body naturally reject the cancer. By contrast, the conventional US treatment of breast cancer typically costs between $60,000-$100,000. One medication her oncologist has recommended that she be on for at least a year or two is $30,000 per month. It’s not covered by insurance but if she does end up taking that after this alternative treatment, the oncology clinic is working to get her subsidies to cover it. But that's $360,000 for one year. This cancer center in Cancun that does all things to promote health and for the body to thrive and get rid of the cancer is a bargain by comparison.

We love and appreciate so many of you beautiful people! Please share this far and wide. Donate or if you are in a tough position like many of us, share this/spread the word, and send Mama Love healing prayers and vibes. She’ll take love and support in whatever form you want to share. Just share. Thank you!! Thank you!!

Also, if you happen to see her in person, please connect about life and living. I know she doesn’t want the focus of conversation to be on her health or this cancer… She wants to connect with people, enjoy her husband and family, she wants dance, be in nature, exercise, do yoga, meditate, sing, learn, and ENJOY life. Talk with her about that stuff… That’ll help her more than any condolences or doom and gloom about her diagnosis.
