Healing Fund for Dj Lucha

Many of you know Lucha Andi Brandenburg...Dj Lucha of Besos Not Bombs. Lucha is a "borderican" Lebanese Armenian, community organizer, teacher, social worker, DJ, street artist, healer, and percussionist for BATALA NYC. Lucha has dedicated her life to immigrants rights (primarily working with women and children), healing trauma, and bringing joy to others through music and art. 

In California, apart from creating the Besos not Bombs studio where she mentored youth and created political art, she wrote a multitude of programs such as "The Youth Shall Set Us Free", and "We Will Rize". You might remember some of her events near the border, "Viva La Salsa", "De la Calle!", "Let's Chill real music for real people", and "Hustlers mercado". In NYC, her focus has been on working with immigrants, where she has been directing, teaching, and creating a multitude of immigrants' rights programs.

I created this GoFundMe to celebrate Lucha's birthday this week and help her start a healing fund. She never asks for help and this year has been one of the most challenging of her life. Some of you know that she has been battling an illness (she refuses to call it by its name because she feels it gives it power) and has had multiple surgeries, where she was unable to work for some time. In order for her to heal on a natural path (as she refused chemical treatments), she has to save for some costly alternatives, follow a strict diet/exercise regiment, reduce her stress, and focus on healing.
