Healing for Dad

Donation protected
I decided to start this Gofundme page for my Dad. I wanted to help provide a needed and tangible way for our close friends and family (and anyone else who has the desire) to help my Dad and Mom.

Please also check out the link below for info on how you can help provide meals to the family! Thank you!

First, we are asking for the prayer support of all our friends and family in this time.

Second, my Dad has loved visiting with all that have come to see him, but his treatments have had him exhausted and in need of rest. We still encourage all of you to visit if you want to, but we ask that you contact our family beforehand (Dave Bordon can get you in touch with us) to make sure it is a good time.

Third, we wanted a way to streamline the information we all receive on Dad's situation daily to keep all our loved ones updated and current as things change day by day, and sometimes moment by moment.

Finally, we ask you to consider helping financially, if you are so led. I just put a deductable as the goal because it forced me to enter an amount, but anything at all helps. Dad has insurance but is obviously unable to work. My parents carry a high deductable and anything you feel you want to give would help my Mom and Dad immensely!

My Dad is the kindest, gentlest, most generous and caring man I have ever known in my life. I really wanted to give all of you the chance to shower him with your love and support.

My Dad and all the family would like to thank everyone who has prayed and has reached out to offer encouragement and support! My Dad still has a long road ahead of him, so please don't hesitate to keep reaching out and keep praying! We love all of you !

What has happened?
Dad started having health problems around the beginning of October. They quickly progressed until he couldn't eat or drink much of anything. This continued for weeks until the Dr ordered a CT scan. The Dr noted what looked like a mass in the lower colon/rectal area and Dad was sent for a colonoscopy and biopsy 2 days later. Dad completed the colonoscopy and was waiting for a surgury and oncologist consultaion, but being the Thanksgiving weekend, he had to wait a little longer than usual.

Shellie and I visited him on Sunday the 26th of November and he could barely walk or speak above a whisper. We, as a family with the help of my Dad's brother Dave, decided to take Dad to the ER. That was probably the best decision we could have made.

Dad was severly dehydrated and his Liver and Kidneys were failing. Also, the mass in the colon was confimed as well as lesions on the liver and lung(s). He was given fluids and antibiotics and paid medicatin and transferred to St. Francis Main in Tulsa, OK.

Update 11/27
Monday morning, the pathology report came back confirming small cell carcinoma of the colon/rectal area and of the liver and lung.

This cancer is very fast growing and the Dr were concerned with waiting any longer to start Chemotherapy. The Dr. believes this type of cancer responds well to chemo. They stared chemo yesterday while still trying to support Dad's fluid levels and overall strength.

Dad showed a marked improvemnt in mental alertness and energy level after getting the stablizing treatment he needed, but he is still very very weak and has lost a lot of weight.

Update 11/28
Dad is currently in the ICU. His kidney function is not what it needs to be, so the doctors are preparing to do dialysis before his chemo treatment today.

The family is exhausted but Dad is in great spirits considering all he has been through in the last 48 hours.
