Healing for Abbie

Abbie is a 16 y/o high school student who has been diagnosed with Rumination Syndrome which was caused by a previous illness. This illness causes her to vomit anything she eats or drinks. She had a NG feeding tube at first for feedings.

Abbie had a consult at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio in July for the Rumination Syndrome. They were fortunate to be accepted into the Ronald McDonald House for lodging while they were there. 

Abbie had her feeding tube replaced with a J-peg tube for feedings at the end of July. During this hospitalization there were complications and Abbie had to be rehospitalized and then developed pneumonia. This required a two week hospital stay.

As you can imagine the expenses are accumulating even though she has insurance.

Abbie’s dad, our boss, Andy,  received word on August 15th that Abbie will begin treatment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on August 27th.  They will be there 3 weeks and hopeful that the Ronald McDonald house has an opening. 

Andy is quickly depleting his available paid time off. Medical expenses not covered by insurance and expenses to and from Ohio are all adding up.
