Healing and Outreach Through the Arts

My name is Lynn McColl, and I am offering a safe, joyful and nurturing place where children and adults come to create art or improve their writing skills-- especially those who would find it difficult otherwise to afford lessons and tutoring.  Currently, I'm raising money for my small (12 total) Fine Arts Camp running July 17-21. I have several kids who require sponsorship and would love to offer two of them the remaining 2 spots. I am also raising funds to help kids in my neighborhood take weekly art classes. Three of my neighborhood schools only offer art every other year. Many kids near me cannot come up with even my affordable weekly tuition. For them, I rely on the kindness of those who so generously offer their financial support, and I am grateful for all gifts, large and small.

I taught English and Art for 32 years, and now, in semi-retirement, I have the opportunity to teach from the peace of my home. I created a learning center on the top floor of my studio and have space to safely serve 12 students at a time. At first I thought of my Rocket Tree Studio as a business where I can use my skills and experience to earn money, as I do need to continue to earn to support myself and my family. However, my heart is moved to do more. A recent note from a beloved former student, in conjunction with a wonderful suggestion from a dear childhood friend, inspired me to launch a Go Fund Me to provide a positive, creative learning opportunity for those in need.  

Especially in these sometimes dark, unsure times, I offer a place where light and love can shine through.  It would be my honor to use your donations to offer scholarships to children & adults in my community who need the comfort, inspiration and uplift the arts provide...including wonderful Summer, Spring Break and Winter Holiday Art Camps!  Thank you, thank you for helping me to give the joy of creating to others.
