SAVE-A-LiFE

Have you ever wondered where the money comes from to raise AWARENESS, provide EDUCATION, and SUPPORT individuals and families affected by suicide ideation and survived attempt? It doesn’t come from the county or city funds. It comes from the comprehensive suicide prevention program you have come to know as LiFE OF HOPE. Every day we use that money to bring light to a topic that few want to acknowledge, empower members of the community to SAVE-A-LiFE, and surround those directly impacted with tools, resources, and support for HOPE and healing to occur.

It is estimated that in Washington County this year,

·         3,900 residents will consider ending their LiFE by suicide

·         1,300 will make a plan (method, location, time)

·         475 will attempt suicide

·         With 19 having died last year alone (78 in the past five years)

To date, more than 1,500 members of our community have engaged one or more of our programs.

The LiFE OF HOPE organization has been referred to as “revolutionary” by a national researcher in the field of suicidology, stating that “the future of suicide prevention is in grassroots programming such as that offered through LiFE OF HOPE”. Dr. Thomas Joiner went on to say that, sadly, there are no other organizations (to his knowledge) in America, offering such a compressive approach to suicide prevention, making our community truly fortunate.

We are fortunate, but our bank account lacks the “fortune” necessary to ensure our viability. So, how do we get the funds needed to keep our doors open and our mission alive? That’s easy – through the generous financial contributions of people like YOU!  As someone who values LiFE, we know you believe that every LiFE matters, even when someone has lost sight of the value they bring to the world. We are all worth every second chance we are ever given, we HOPE you will share what you can to help us provide a second chance to those who might otherwise face the topic of suicide alone.
