Help Pickles walk again

On November 11, 2021, my world stopped. My sweet, 7 year old wheaten terrier mix, Pickles (@picklesthemutt on IG) lost his ability to walk on his back legs. After a frantic trip to Blue Pearl Emergency Animal Hospital, we learned his L2-L3 spinal disc had suddenly ruptured and put him in immense pain. Despite the $10k surgery cost, I had to act fast to save Pickles while his odds of full recovery were still good. So they did the hemilaminectomy on his spine on November 12, 2021.

In the 6.5 days he was hospitalized, I read as much as I could about intervertebral disc disorder (IVDD) and how to support him when he came home on November 17. What followed his release can only be described as a rollercoaster of sleepless & confusing emotions, dozens of purchases (playpen, diapers, pee pads, medicine, etc.) and struggles to keep a sore, healing partially-paralyzed dog clean, happy, and progressing. It’s been 2+ weeks since his surgery now it’s slowly improving despite many emotional breakdowns (me and him) along the way and one panicked ER visit when he wouldn’t let me touch him without yelping for two days. If only dogs could talk

Now, I hate to ask for help because I work hard and try my best to save for such emergencies. But the surgery, aftercare, additional emergency vet visits, and soon, many months of physical therapy 40 minutes away are overwhelming my abilities as a sole provider. He has a 90% chance of walking again if I lean in fully on rehab.

He’s a special boy and worth every penny but I can’t do this without your support. So thank you for reading, and helping me ensure my sweet Pickles has the best chance of walking again. Your donations will help me sign him up for as many water treadmill, laser, acupuncture, and physical therapy sessions as they recommend, and help me rebuild my financial security blanket in case he inevitably needs more ER visits, MRIs, or future spinal surgeries (which is sadly, entirely possible.)
