Jay Peterson, Rest In Peace

It is with utmost sadness, that an extended member of our Irwindale Police Department family, Jay Peterson, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away while in his sleep on the night of October 27th. Jay, is the husband of our beloved current Irwindale Police Department Dispatcher Sherry Peterson.
Jay's passing took all of us by complete shock and surprise and will be a loss to not only Sherry, his loving wife, but every member of the Irwindale Police Department! I personally have a close attachment to Sherry, seeing as how we both started together with IPD (My ID # is 756 and here 757). In our nearly 15 years working together, I embraced Sherry as one of my many moms at IPD! During the many personal conversations that I have shared with her throughout the years, she would always share stories of Jay. Whether the story involved happiness, silliness, anger or frustration, I could tell during these many personal moments, she was madly in love with this man. All of her Irwindale Police Department family share in her heartbreak over this loss.
I'm asking for donations, prayers and love for Sherry during this difficult time. I reassured Sherry that her blue line family would pick her up and carry her through these difficult times. I've always marveled at how the law enforcement community comes together so beautifully in times like this and shows the true good in people. Let's demonstrate that again.
God bless you Jay. You are survived by many, which includes a wonderful wife who thought the world of you. If you can read this, rest assured we will take good care of her and she will be in good hands. Rest In Paradise Jay, until we meet again.
