Help Get Hayden to Disney World

Hayden was diagnosed when he was only 3 years old, with brain cancer known as Medulloblastoma. Brain cancer in children is a very ugly disease that causes so much damage and turmoil. It has left him with a lot of delays and setbacks. During that time Hayden was treated with radiation as well as chemo therapy. He was deemed in remission in August of 2017. They consider you a survivor after going 5 years in remission. Well, unfortunately that wasn’t our case. In 2021, just a month or 2 after Hayden’s 8th birthday, we had our routine MRI check up. It was then we noticed he had more spots show up. 4 years into remission. They did a biopsy and declared it to be a High Grade Glioma. When a child gets diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, less than 5% of those children are at risk for developing secondary types of tumors. This is unfortunately the case for Hayden. They wanted to do radiation immediately but his team just wasn’t sure if it would even work. So over the summer, we did 6 weeks of radiation. After we completed radiation, we had our routine MRI and it showed that the main tumor was gone, but there were still small spots on the brain. Our team at first said to give it time, maybe it was just radiation damage. Well, as of yesterday (10/19/2021) during another routine MRI, our team determined it was not radiation damage but in fact the disease. They said it’s such a super aggressive form of brain cancer and there are currently no real treatment or cure available for it. He originally had 2 spots they were watching since radiation to now having a 3rd spot show up which indicates it’s spreading. Our team is working on a chemo plan as we speak to hopefully keep the tumors from growing further and spreading for as long as possible. This is not a cure, but just to keep his cancer at bay for as long as we can just to let Hayden live his life. We are praying so hard that some new treatment comes up, or even a cure for that matter but there is absolutely no guarantee. We are sick, heartbroken, devastated and honestly dead inside. We hurt for our son. 

With that being said. We did start the process to get him a Wish from Make A Wish granted. However, M.A.W. is not granting Disney type wishes to kids who aren’t vaccinated. They are also super back logged with wishes as well. That means it could be well over a year before we could get Hayden’s wish granted. Especially since he’s not eligible for a vaccine yet. 

Making this GoFundMe was something James and myself (Sam) discussed as a good opportunity to get Hayden to Disney World as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to support ourselves financially as cancer has literally had control over our life. We are in fear of going to work as things with Hayden’s cancer alongside all of his disabilities and doctors appointments hinder us from being able to have a full time career at the moment especially. We are extremely thankful to our parents for helping us so much along our journey. We don’t know how we would be surviving with out all of their help. 

We can not fly, so we are looking at taking our vehicle (or a rental but our car is big enough for the trip). All money donated to this GoFundMe will go directly and ONLY to paying for our trip. This includes tickets to each park, lodging at Disney, gas money to get there and back home, as well as paying for food and a souvenir for Hayden while we are there. All money received from the GoFundMe will go directly into a savings account until we have received enough to book our trip. We do not have any dates picked or set up, but I do know it could cost us around 4-5 grand just for the park tickets as well as Disney themed lodging. We are planning on having James mom go with us as well to have an extra set of hands since Hayden’s needs are so complex. I will set the donation limit to 8K but we are in no way expecting to need that much. We just want Hayden to meet his favorite characters such as the Mickey Mouse crew. It is something we’ve dreamed of for him for years. Your donation will help make that dream a reality for him and we thank you deeply from the bottom of our hearts. We do not know how much time we have left with him, but we just really want him to experience the magic of Disney World and have a nice family vacation with him.
