Hayden Alexander lived his best life despite the gradual loss of his mobility to Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an incurable disease he was diagnosed with at 8 years old.
With the unwavering love and support of his Uncle David, who was his carer and constant companion for 19 years, Hayden found joy in every day. He faced medical setbacks and the frustrations of his disability with dignity, bravery and determination. He always pulled through with a smile, until he was suddenly taken on March 15, 2024, aged 25.
Hayden lived for sport and loved his community getting involved in disability sport, learning to DJ and always flying the South Sydney Rabbitohs colours at games and wherever he wheeled. Souths posted a wonderful tribute to Hayden which you can view here https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/vale-hayden-alexander
Hayden was loved by the Coogee Wombats, South Sydney Mustangs and the Bunnies alike. His warm, caring, funny and positive personality will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Friends have come together to honour Hayden’s life and support David by putting together this Memorial fund to ease the financial burden on David, who is on a carer's pension.
Boland Funerals in Maroubra have kindly given David a discount, however, the costs involved will be approximately $13,000 for the service alone. David wants to ensure a farewell that honours Hayden’s legacy.
Hayden will be farewelled at Eastern Suburbs Crematorium on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 12pm.
