Hawaiian Medical Movement Ministry

Donation protected
Hey! It's nice to meet you!

There is a saying that I live by ...that wherever we go and wherever we are in life, there are 3 things that remain true:
1-YOU are a "bendy straw!"
2-every person can bless another person
3-in every moment, we are 1 person away from relief

"Bendy Straw Theory" 101:
Have you ever put plastic bendy straws together to make one long, ultimate drinking straw!? If you were me, it was because you were trying to steal a sneaky sip of your brother's cherry soda while he wasn't looking!

...Well, you my friend are a "bendy straw!"

It's like this...in order to reach our friends, brothers, and sisters that are SUPER far away in remote villages to become a resource, we need to pipe together one heck of a REALLY LONG straw!! (I prefer the curly cue ones that change color with the temperature of the drink!) In this way, each donation becomes another straw.

...What kind of straw are you?!

Picture it! If each person who stood "bega-kwa-bega" together (Swahili for "shoulder to shoulder") and linked elbows, just like those cool, elbow "bendy straws" and joined together, we'd be ONE BIG power chain of help! ...Like the funny game a "Barrel of Monkey's!"

...Let's be "bendy straws" together!!

Here's what YOU and I are up to:

For over a 12 year period time, I have completed several academic degrees and certifications (while developing and implementing integrative practices) that combine both medical and expressive clinical techniques, assessments, interventions, and treatment for diverse physical/medical, emotional, neurodiverse populations.

I was recently accepted into the University of the Nations, YWAM program located in Kona, Hawaii called "Medical Dicipleship Training" (DTS) foundations in cross-cultural ministry training program. (Don't worry, I'll take all the exams for you! Haha..)

This medical program will train me in "whole body medicine" to combine my Master's degree in Expressive Arts Therapy as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Dance/Movement Therapist in a foundation of ministry! Whole body medicine focuses on holistically treating and healing the "whole person" as a professional practice of medicine. (What does that mean?!)

...I'll be with other straw-friendly people too!

This means that I will be working alongside a cohort of 30 medical professional doctors, nurses, and mental health counselors mentored 1:1 by a staff of 14 professors and lecturers integrating counseling and movement as therapy to underserved populations! As professionals, we use our specialty to serve traumatized, oppressed, and underserved communities needing TLC.

How I do my thing...

Personally, I use both traditional and arts-based approaches to mental health counseling and integrate various verbal/non-verbal movement therapies to varying expressions of mobility, including hospice care. It is an honor to provide complimentary approaches to medicine to improve a person's medical condition.

What's the training entail?

The training is 6 months long. The first 3 months [part 1] is spent in training lectures held in a classroom setting. The last 3 months [part 2] of the training are spent in completing "outreach" training where I am deployed internationally to a decided upon location. (Most likely Amazon in Brazil, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, etc.)

How the training helps me professionally...

My God-sized dream is to start my own practice and begin a therapeautic movement ministry!

In addition to completing the training, I will be working towards completing my supervised clinical licensure-eligibility hours as a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-D/MT) state board certifications.
Completing this course will also certify me to pursue becoming a YWAM staff if I desire to continue working with the organization as a future international lecturer.

Still with me bendy straw?! All this to say will you...

Please join my walk of love, laughter, and healing our brothers and sisters that are 1 person away from relief!
