Havelock Motorcycle Tragedy (Rocheleau Family)
On August 19, 2017 our lives have changed forever. My wife and I and our dear closest friends (family) decided to go on a motorcycle ride before our planned eventful evening at the Havelock jamboree.
Our joyride came to an abrupt and tragic end within minutes of our departure as a vehicle crossed the center line and created a head on collision. Our ride was spared by seconds however our friends were not so lucky. It was a horrific scene and situation to run back to see our friends in such pain and despair.
We have may have lost the courage to ever ride again however our faith and hope is stronger than ever to see our friends physically recover from this horrifying experience.
Please find it in your heart to donate to this very tragic cause so we can recover and not have to worry about certain financial burdens through this long and painful process, we would not hesitate to do the same as it i in our nature to help others and we really appreciate your generosity.
The funds will be used to support expenses such as travel, hotel, meals, so that the spouses and close loved ones can be there to support the injured parties... John is not doing so well, Kathy needs to be by his side but was also injured herself. John needs her right now and expenses are hard to manage at this time. Also, Andre remains in Kingston Hospital and will be their healing for 6 weeks or so... we cannot thank you enough for all your love and support...

Havelock – Five people were sent to area hospitals, two with life-threatening injuries, following a collision between a pick-up truck and three motorcycles east of Havelock on Aug. 19.
A group of seven motorcycles was travelling east, near Weller Road, just before 1 p.m. when a westbound pickup truck crossed the centre line and struck three of the bikes head-on.
Emergency responders including firefighters, paramedics and members of the Peterborough County OPP were at the scene of the collision which occurred during the third day of the Havelock Country Jamboree.
Both police and paramedics already had teams stationed on the nearby jamboree grounds and were able to respond very quickly.
Family along with the owners of the Havelock Country Jamboree have set up this Go Fund Me Account to assist the family with expenses during this time of need.

Sometimes there are no answers as to why terrible tragedies can strike at any time.
But when it does – love and compassion rise to the top of our beings so that we can comfort, help and do whatever we can to ease the strife of those that are suffering unbearable losses.
We have something to ask of all of our Jamboree family – we ask that you continue to pray and wrap a blanket of love around a very special family that has come to the Jamboree for many years.
On Saturday morning, Aug 19th, guests of the jamboree all woke up to a beautiful sunny day, a perfect day really, to go for a little bike ride & enjoy the glorious countryside of the Kawarthas before the music began in the afternoon. Happy and carefree on their holidays, they put on their helmets and the group of 7 motorcycles (friends, brothers & wives) cruised out onto to Hwy 7 eastbound. Only minutes into their tour – cruising at 50 or 60 Kms an hour – tragedy struck – a truck going west veered over into their lane and struck this family.
An unbelievable nightmare. The Ambulances, Fire & Rescue and OPP that were working on the Jamboree grounds to take care of the campers that create a miniature city here for over a week were on the scene immediately - thank GOD they were so close, seconds matter. Thank God for the swiftness & efficiency of all the first responders, of all the emergency teams, including the air rescue teams. Thank you – for without your help they could have lost their lives, but you were there within minutes of this happening.
Needless to say, this family has been torn asunder. Injuries beyond comprehension have happened….and they are separated. Kingston, Toronto and Peterborough hospitals are caring for these families, but they are far from home.
The Havelock Jamboree is doing whatever we can while they are here in Havelock but there need for assistance won’t end here. Their road to recovery will be long and hard. We need your help – we need your prayers, compassion and your generous hearts to help them as they are starting a “Go Fund Me” donation fund. Life goes on and so do the bills. Some of these people will not be able to work again for a very long time. Please let us show them that we care and we are here to help.
We ask you to please donate what you can. If a lot of people give a little, we can raise enough to contribute in a monetary way and perhaps ease a small part of the burden they bear. So, I beg of you – let us help them in this way. Never have I met such a courageous family trying so hard to stay positive during the darkest days of their lives, a family who is grateful for every small kindness that is shown. As you can imagine, all seems small in the face of this catastrophe.
To our friends – know that we love you and will help however we can. Our deepest appreciation to all who have been there & to all of you who will help make their lives just a tiniest bit easier during this time of great need. Please give – from the bottom of your hearts. They need us now.
