I started this fund to help a person I consider my best friend. A lot of you don't know me, many of you do & here's some history of Marshall and I.
Marshall and I met sometime in middle school and have continued our friendship, for what has been 35+ years. We were roomies at UNL for our freshman year, he was the best man at my wedding, we've been to numerous concerts in Nebraska and Colorado together & I'm sure he's driven my kids somewhere when visiting us in Colorado to help me out. My family that still resides in Nebraska, knows him personally as he was always invited to our Christmas "Soup" suppers to enjoy my dad's chili and to give my sisters a load of crap, which they would expect every time he was there!
With that being said, he is going thru some tough times as he is underinsured as most of us are and has always been there for me. I would appreciate anything you could do, and many have thus far, for a true friend of mine.
Below is a recap of what he has gone thru and will be going thru:
On September 13th during a random follow up appointment to the cardiologist Marshall was told to follow the nurse to the local hospital as he was being admitted. As it turns out, he was diagnosed with heart failure. To explain this in the simplest way, his heart should be pumping at 40-45% and his is only doing 10-15%.
After a short stay at the local hospital, he was transported by ambulance to Lincoln. He was given medication that would essentially, or at least get his heart to pumping properly...more than it currently had been.
In addition to that problem, he was retaining fluids, which didn't help matters at all. Both hospitals used IV Lasix to help remove said fluid, which helped with a lot things. Just an FYI, they removed nearly 25 lbs of fluid off!
Marshall was discharged from Lincoln on September 25th & sent home until his next round of appointments, which will include putting in a Defribllator & an appointment for an evaluation of a heart transplant. His medical team feels that meds will help with getting the heart to pump better, that the Defribllator will be a good backup "just in case" & getting EVALUATED at this time for a possible transplant, is better than waiting around. Pray that the meds work & any future cardio therapy help as well.
