Hasan is being disowned for being Catholic

Hi. My name is Hasan, I'm a 24 year old convert to Roman Catholicism from Islam. Most of you guys are probably going to be my friends and know me well, I think. My situation is that there are strong tensions between myself and my family which have been in place since they came to know about my conversion two years ago. We aren't hostile towards one another.

The problem comes down to this - now that it's clear that there is no way I will be returning to Islam, they have had to wrestle with two options, considering the great difficulty of attempting to find some way to integrate me into the common life of the family and extended family.

They had two options -

Painful and uncomfortable attempts to integrate me (and my future family) into the family, or painfully and uncomfortably cutting themselves off from me in reaction to me not coming back to islam.

They've been thinking about it for a long time but they've made their decision, and they've chosen the second option.

Because of this, I will be leaving my home permanently this August when I leave for university, and I will not have the support from my family that was previously going to be given on arrival. I have applied for a Student Finance Wales loan and grant, but because I have been living with my family up until now I may not be able to access the maximum amount of money (about £24k), and my costs will come together at around £28k. I will not have money for living expenses - I currently have no savings and cannot find a job on short notice for the next month or two that will deal with living expenses once I get to school.
