Harvey's Medical Bill

Donation protected
Hi All,

As many of you know, 2 months ago a Nashville based animal rescue group drove hundreds of miles to help with the over flowing animal shelters in the Houston, TX, area after Hurricane Harvey hit. This group ended up bringing 20 dogs back to Tennessee. One dog almost did not make the trip until one of the shelter ladies asked if they had room for one more; Harvey! Of course, with those ears he wasn’t going to be turned down. All 20 dogs made the long haul back to TN in 24 hrs. in the back of a horse trailer.

I signed up to foster one of these poor puppies and was ecstatic that I was going to get Harvey after seeing those large ears on such a small body. I picked him up in the pouring rain once they reached Nashville. The  rough journey for him was over and a new journey was about to begin for all of us. I brought him home and immediately fell in love with him, as did many friends and family. However, as great of a dog he is, I knew I did not have the time, space, or funds for 3 large dogs and made the decision to not adopt him myself but to allow someone else get to raise such a cool dog. We found an amazing forever home for Harvey with Daniel on Oct 10th.

Fast forward to today. I got a text from Daniel stating Harvey had become very ill and asking if he may have swallowed anything foreign while he was with me. I could not come up with anything except for some little plastic squeakers from a squeaky toy that all the dogs had torn apart. Sure enough, after several X-rays and 3 days on an IV there was a squeaker plain as day lodged in his colon making him very sick.

Harvey has undergone surgery to remove the toy on 10/26 and now the vet bill to Daniel has grown to over $2500 after only 2 weeks of adopting Harvey. Had Harvey gotten sick when he was with me in the foster program, the rescue would have taken care of the bill.  Daniel is a chef at a downtown restaurant and owns his own home in East Nashville while having 2 other roommates help with the bills. We never expected that after only 2 weeks of adopting Harvey, we would be where we are and strapping Daniel for cash to pay for getting Harvey better.

This is why I am asking for help to cover some of his out of pocket costs for this surgery. After everything Harvey has been through in his short little life so far, he is certainly a little fighter and he has a great new Dad who could use a little assistance. Anything at all will help as every dollar counts.

Thank you, and Harvey thanks you as well!
