Harvey: Family Left With Scraps

Due to 16" of flood water unexpectedly entering their Dickinson, Tx home, our parents lost their furniture, cars, carpet and wood flooring, cabinets, appliances, electronics, clothing, documents, household items, and memorabilia (all family videos and many family photos). Their house will not be liveable for up to a year (FEMA's waiting list time), so we are scrambling to find help in restoring their house before it becomes contaminated indefinitely. They do not have flood insurance, as their neighborhood was marked as a "no-flood" zone.

Since the flood, we have thrown away almost the entire house in efforts to finish tearing down the sheet rock along the interior of the house.

It's heartbreaking and a total shock to see our parents go through this. They have no refuge, no privacy, and nothing to show for the life they built, all because of this unforeseeable disaster. They just retired a few months ago....and now this?

Thankfully, though, they were rescued by the Texas National Guard and are now safe, and that is what matters most.

If there is anything you can do to help, we would all appreciate it so very much. Any money donated will be used to replace what was lost in the flood. We are so sorry to all the other families suffering the same loss.
