In October 2015, Amy suffered right sided weakness and was taken to the hospital where eventually after weeks of testing, she was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease - a neurological disease which causes the carotid arteries in the brain to close. Unless treated, this disease will eventually cause catastophic strokes and probable death. Amy was lucky enough to find the Country's leading specialist to perform an Arterial bypass of her left side (her worse side of blockage) in May at Stanford University. Recovery was slow, but she managed to return to a normal daily routine. On December 5th, it was learned that the right side had also closed significantly and surgery was performed Dec. 14. This surgery has had more post-op drawbacks including swallowing issues, and a longer stay is needed with hopes of a good recovery. Since Amy has been unable to work for over a year, income and savings have been depleated and bills are going to be mounting. Travel expenses, deductables, meds, and school loan payments will be added to already monthly bills. Upon much encouragement by others, this account has been created to allow people to help in a financial way, Thank you's would never be enough for what you can help with.
