Harper Grace Allison has endured so much in just so little time. Harper is 5 years old and has had 39 surgeries, 2 Five organ transplants and has been hospitalized over 3/4 of her life. She went into rejection January 9th from her 1st transplant and has been in Miami, Holtz Children's Hospital since then which is approximately 265 miles from home. If you ever had the joy to meet Harper you would never know it. Her sprite is always happy, joyful, loving and laughing. When she has a colostomy bag she will tell you how much she hates it.
June 24, 2018 Harper had her second multivisceral transplant. Her health was declining rapidly and they were blessed for another transplant. Harper was recovering from the transplant until August 23rd when her body crashed from an infection that put her in PICU in a coma.
Jessica Bontempo is Harper’s mom. Jess is the strongest mom, friend, daughter and sister I’ve ever met. She’s doing everything she can to raise her kids and be the best mom she can be. All while Harper is 265 miles away! Jess also has two other children, Greyson 1-½ and Jemma 7 years old. As a mom, I would be torn between my kids, not knowing where I should be and when I should be there.
Jess’s heart is aching. All she wants is for Harper to be healthy and her family together. Jess, would do anything for anybody, she’s the kind of person that helps others without any reason and gives help without the expectation of receiving anything in return. Harper is currently in a Coma. She just faced many obstacles that have set her back. Jess, Just told me she would be coming home in 2 short weeks. Now, all those plans have changed as Harper is fighting for her life. Jess, needs support more than ever. She wants to be with her daughter, but also needs a job to support her family and go see Harper.
Jess goes to Miami every week to see Harper. Just one trip in fuel is $125. That’s not including tolls, food, parking etc.
Bills are starting to pileup. She has been traveling back and forth from Miami every week since January 9th Jess has to think about all her bills like Rent, Car Insurance, Water Bill, Medical Bills, Cell Phone Bill, Fuel, Car Payment, Tolls, Parking, Daycare, FPL, Food etc. Than on top of that raise Jemma and Greyson too.
That’s a lot for a single mom of 3 kids, but when you put Harper Grace into the picture being 265 miles away. That’s overburden.. Jess, is stressed out more than ever, but you would never know it, because she always has a smile on her face.
Jess, Harper, Greyson and Jemma need us more than ever now.
Jess wants to stay down in Miami with Harper. She needs help with daily life bills. She can’t stay in Miami unless we raise money for all her bills to be able to stay with Harper and take off work.
Harper needs Jess now more than ever. To be with Harper and hold her hand. No mom wants to be away from their children, let alone a sick child and being 265 miles away.
Jess has always helped everyone else and has always been there to help raise money for other people. Now, it’s her turn to receive help and be with Harper.
Let’s get together as a community and help Jess, Harper, Greyson and Jemma as much as we can.
