Kona's Road to Recovery Fund

We, Kris and Janel's Paychex family, have setup this fund to help them get Kona healthy again.  We wanted to help in their time of need.

Many people have been asking how they can help or donate to Kona’s recovery efforts, so this fund has been set up on her behalf for those that desire to make a donation. As many of you know and for those that do not, this past Christmas Eve our 2 year old Weimaraner Kona, got loose and ran off, this is uncharacteristic of her.  That night and over the course of the next several days we looked for her nonstop.  We canvassed our neighborhoods with flyers, calls to vets and shelters, and many of you assisting us in posting on social media for her safe return.  As each day passed, our panic that something awful happened to her increased. My hope was that someone had her and they were waiting to take her to a shelters or a vet until after the holiday. Thankfully she was found alive on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, she was hit by a car and she was found lying in a ditch.  Her injuries included dislocated spine, fracture vertebrae, fractured pelvis and broken leg as well as she was hypothermic. After being examined by our vet, she determined Kona was not paralyzed and we made the difficult decision to move forward with spinal surgery at Cornell Animal hospital. The fate of her broken leg is yet to be determined. Kona has a long and difficult road to recovery and will be with Cornell for several weeks for rehab and recovery. We will continue to do whatever is necessary to help her recover, with the best quality of life we can give her. We sincerely appreciate all the support we have gotten, thank you.
